Of course, when I have a heartfelt moment to jolt me into better acting, I’m not called for a week! Finally, I’m back to doing rehearsal, and today we did some creative staging for the ending of Act 1 and reviewed an intimate scene (scene seven).
We also went into greater depth for scene seven, and it brought a lot of life to it. Marc pointed out that my language towards Ms. Debenham is rather harsh, and that can help justify why a hug is needed after we argue. We explored having greater conflict at the start and it made everything flow beautifully. Afterward, my scene partner and I discussed how the scene and their relationship relate to our real-life experiences.
My biggest success today was pushing further into a scene that has been weighing on me and connecting with my scene partner. Tomorrow, I want to continue fleshing out that connection.
